Position Title: Shift Operator (Outside Operator) Department: Operations Reports to: O&M Manager  Location: Linden, New Jersey FLSA exemption status: Non-Exempt (covered) Job Description Under the direction of the O&M Manager, an outside operator performs the day-to-day operations of the Aries Linden sludge processing facility in Linden, NJ including plant operations, first line operations maintenance activities, and managing the site safety systems. The position requires monitoring the plant performance by managing individual equipment and systems within the operating areas, monitoring and managing outside safety systems, sampling of operating systems and in-process products, and general operations activities including routine rounds and readings of all outside operations.  Key Responsibilities and Important Duties
  • Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters while complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Personally responsible and accountable for individually following environmental, health and safety rules and regulations; contributes to ensuring the safety of the team.
  • Under the direction of the Site Leader and/or Board Operator employee will be required to perform the duties necessary to ensure the following are completed:
    • All tasks and documentation for the assigned work
    • Non-routine work tasks assigned by operations manager.
  • Communicates plant concerns and proposes corrective/contingency plans to operations manager and/or board operator.
  • Maintains any necessary logbooks in a clear, concise, complete, and legible manner.
  • Assists in training new or advancing operators in day-to-day job functions and general operations principles.
  • Conducts sampling and analysis of product, by-products and intermediates for quality control/treatment requirements.
  • Performs tasks, including operation of equipment and monitoring/management of individual rotating equipment.
  • Prepares work requests to notify others of potentially unsafe, inefficient, environmentally unfriendly, or inoperable equipment.
  • Carry out first line operations maintenance duties when required in order to keep the plant running smoothly.
  • Assist in maintenance activities as needed including inspection rounds and readings, implementing safe work procedures, and ensuring equipment isolation for maintenance.
Job Requirements Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED. Process Plant Technology Degree preferred.
  • 3+ years plant operating experience
  • 2+ years in solids handling and solids processing or related industries (e.g., paper & pulp, gasification, power, wastewater, etc.)
  • Prior experience in process plant operations highly desirable
  • Prior experience with mobile equipment (forklift, aerial lift, telehandler, etc.) highly desirable
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills including Word and Excel
  • Willingness and ability to take direction and give input to site leader and board operator.
  • Team oriented (e.g., ability to contribute as a team member through a positive “can-do” attitude).
  • Versatility and willingness to perform multiple tasks across a variety of skill sets, as needed, within position detail.
  • Some knowledge of chemical or petrochemical plant operations including basic chemistry principles, and familiarity with typical plant operations and safety documentation (e.g., Procedures, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Material Safety Data)
  • A background in troubleshooting of process unit operations
  • Basic competency in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) operation preferred.
  • Experience with operation of plant equipment (e.g., process pumps, motors, belt drives, gearboxes, valves and compressors).
  • Operation of mobile equipment (forklift and loader).
Working Conditions and Requirements
  • Exposure to heat, cold, and humidity as position requires both indoor and outdoor functions in a 24/7 operation.

Position Title: Senior Process Engineer Department: Engineering Reports to: Director, Engineering Location: Franklin, Tennessee FLSA exemption status: Exempt Position Summary: Aries Clean Energy is developing a pipeline of waste recycling bio-energy projects at sites across the US. The Process Engineer will be responsible for process and engineering design work for the Engineering department from the home office base under the direction of the Director of Engineering, in developing the front-end engineering packages (FEL1, FEL 2) and supporting preliminary (FEL 3) and EPC detailed engineering phase work undertaken by third party engineering and EPC companies. Key areas of work will include project objectives, design basis, H&MBs, PFDs, P&IDs, data sheets, etc. and preparing design package proposals, and cost estimates. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Preparing and supporting home office engineering package development, including preparing designs and design information for FEL 1, 2 and 3 packages
  • Supporting plant construction through such activities as factory acceptance tests, inspecting equipment, walkdowns, and responding to construction RFIs
  • Use Aries operational data, literature, and modeling to perform heat and material balance, estimate emissions data, design process equipment, and improve existing designs.
  • Prepare operating guidelines and develop design and operating procedures (normal, startup, shutdown, etc.)
  • Perform process engineering tasks as needed to ensure design goals are met
  • Gain understanding of Aries’s proprietary downdraft and fluid bed gasifier designs and performance specifications
  • Build relationships with Aries team members, contractors, vendors and suppliers
  • Ensure permitting activities and requirements are aligned and integrated with the design scope

Aries is seeking to hire a Planner Scheduler reporting directly to the O&M Manager. The position will be responsible for leading plant maintenance activities under the direction of the plant O&M Manager, these responsibilities include, preventative maintenance plan development, writing and closing out of work orders, work planning and scheduling, utilizing Upkeep as our CMMS system, plan and schedule corrective and preventive maintenance work orders in support of the maintenance supervisor, ordering parts and services, develop scopes work, managing contractors and the site storeroom and planning the work for scheduled plant outages.   • Manages and plans day to day plant maintenance activities of corrective and preventative maintenance utilizing both internal plant resources and contractors. Leads planning effort for plant scheduled shutdowns and forced outages. Coordinates planned and emergent work with Operations.

  • Works with Plants Engineer to coordinate and plan projects.

Aries is seeking to hire a Board Operator reporting directly to the O&M Manager.   The Control Board Operator will respond to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions and execute plant shut-down and start-up procedures and ensure that the plant meets it’s generating requirements while operating in a safe and environmentally efficient manner. At times, the Control Room Operator will lead and direct other employees on their shift to address various plant conditions.  Key Responsibilities and Important Duties
  • Control the operation of systems including sludge drying, fluidized bed gasifier, heat generation and recovery plant, electrical, fire protection, emission control unit.
  • Read and interpret meters, gauges, recorders, and annunciators to determine system operating conditions; takes action within prescribed normal and emergency operating procedures.
  • Adjust and monitor temperatures, pressures, flow and levels on station primary system components for plant optimization.
  • Initiate and conduct periodic surveillance tests on operating safety checks and tests on operating conditions.
  • Identifying problems that arise and resolving them.
  • Maintain required logs and calculations; observe these logs for indications of faulty operation; notify supervisor of abnormal system conditions.
  • Monitor operation of systems and components including pumps, motors, valves, fans, dampers, grates, augers, conveyors, dust collections, etc.
  • Monitors operability of fire protection systems, emergency backup equipment, electrical supply equipment and instrumentation associated with station systems and components.
  • Monitoring emissions control equipment
  • Accurately reading and recording data, and reporting equipment malfunctions or trends, which indicate possible equipment danger.
  • Identifying and correcting abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations
  • Understand and train other Operators on the operating principles of the sludge gasification facility, components.
